One ongoing programme
Surah al-Nisa is where we're continuing the journey — not where it ends.
When you enrol, you are joining Guided Reading: Tafsir of the Whole Qur'an, an ongoing programme designed to take students through the Qur'an from al-Fatiha to al-Nas.
Join us now for Surah al-Nisa and remain with the programme as we continue through the Book of Allah, one passage at a time.
A long-term journey through the entire Qur'an.
Translation, tafsir, context and explanation.
Attend live or catch up through lesson recordings.

Our next chapter
Faith, family, justice, society and responsibility.
Surah al-Nisa is one of the Qur'an's great Madinan surahs — addressing the construction of a just, principled and compassionate Muslim society.
Through its verses we encounter questions of family, marriage, inheritance, wealth, leadership, social responsibility, justice, hypocrisy, community and our relationship with Allah.
Rather than simply reading a translation, Guided Reading slows down and explores the Qur'an carefully — connecting the wording of the verses, their context and the guidance they offer us today.
What Guided Reading looks like
Follow the meaning of the verses clearly and systematically.
Explore the explanation, background and significance of each passage.
Understand why verses were revealed and how they fit within the wider message of the Qur'an.
Encounter the legal guidance contained within the verses and how scholars understood it.
Explore matters of belief, the heart, character and our relationship with Allah.
Ask the question that matters: what does this verse mean for us now?
Guided Reading brings the classical Islamic tradition into a structured, accessible study of the Qur'an for the modern Muslim.
How it works

Your teacher
Director of Imdadiyyah — Sheffield
A structured study of the Qur'an should give you more than information. It should teach you how revelation speaks to belief, worship, character, family and everyday life.
Shaykh Mohammed As'ad Ali is the Director of Imdadiyyah, an Islamic educational institution and madrassah in Sheffield — founded by his parents as Jamia Islamia Urdu Teaching Centre, through which they served the local Muslim community for many years.
On returning from Madinah, he took up its leadership: renaming the institution Imdadiyyah, overseeing the refurbishment of its premises, and expanding its educational vision and programmes. Under his direction it has grown from a community madrassah into a broader centre for Islamic education, pastoral care and community development, while continuing the legacy his parents established.
In Guided Reading, he combines traditional Islamic scholarship with clear, accessible explanation and open discussion — reading the verses closely, drawing on the works of the mufassirun, and connecting each passage to the lives of students today.
